user research
Eight years of experience gathering insights into audience behaviors, needs, preferences, and pain points.
As the content strategist for The Rachel Cruze Show podcast, I created a survey to gain valuable insights directly from our listeners. One by one, we scheduled 15-minute calls with those who were willing to share their opinions of the show. As you can see in my notes above, this enabled us to get more than a surface-level understanding of our listeners and their pain points. (I tend to take copious amounts of notes and whittle them down later, before it’s time to present key findings.)
By the end of the process, we had knew what was working, what wasn’t, and what our audience wanted more of.
This data guided us toward:
- taking the podcast from biweekly to weekly
- developing new segments
- turning down interviews with guests who our audience didn't care to hear from
